Legal Assistant

Little Rock, AR

This position collaborates with attorneys in the Tax and Estate Planning departments to coordinate a wide range of client projects. We are seeking a team member with experience in administrative support tasks, with an emphasis in managing legal documents and additional expertise in the probate process, property documents and commercial entities. The duties include managing documents from draft circulation to formal adoption, corresponding with outside entities and maintaining appropriate documentation electronically and using electronic document management systems. This role requires an emphasis on providing detailed, quality work with attention to turnaround needs to meet deadlines. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with established attorneys to manage the probate process for clients, manage the documents and filings required for creating, merging and dissolving entities, keep clients informed and can multi-task to keep deadlines.

Responsibilities Include

This position requires a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the legal field. Duties may include drafting and research.

The position also requires:

  • Conservation of attorneys’ time by reading, researching, reviewing, verifying and routing correspondence, reports and legal documents; drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information; initiating telecommunications; organizing client conferences and attorney meetings; scheduling couriers and other special functions.

  • Generating revenues by documenting and inputting billable time and reimbursable expenses; preparing invoices; tracking payments.

  • Maintaining hard copy and electronic filing system according to practice group needs and law firm standards.

  • Demonstrating a high degree of confidentiality in activities. Maintains client confidence by keeping client/attorney

    information confidential.

    This position is a full time, non-exempt position and may require periodic overtime and flexible schedule in support of deadlines.   • Draft documents and correspondence for attorney review.

  • Contact and interview clients to gather details relevant to project.

  • File documents with Secretary of State, courts and other agencies.

  • Prepare deeds and other estate and trust funding documentation.

  • Prepare trusts, wills, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives and related documentation.

  • Perform legal research and formulate plans and timelines based on research results.

  • Maintain a roster of deadlines pertaining to relevant projects.
